XVI — The Tower · Drop 1

In 1901, Nikola Tesla began building a tower on Long Island that he believed could send messages, and eventually power, through the air and the earth itself. This is the drawing from his patent for that apparatus: a tall framework crowned with a domed terminal, filed in 1902 and finally granted in 1914. The money ran out long before the dream did, and the tower at Wardenclyffe was torn down in 1917. The drawing survived.

Restored from the original U.S. patent and printed in amber on black.
